Spiritual Progress Is In Our Hands
The call to teach and to heal a world in transition touched my heart. Paths to heal the world are many. Mine has taken me through all kinds of performing, health care clowning, Santa, and writing a book in progress on my friend Tom Sawyer. Tom had an extensive near death experience (NDE) in 1978. He learned a lot from it and taught many, including me.
You might think it's a long haul to teach and heal an entire world through the venue of being a clown and Santa, a true fool's errand. But everyone has their part to play. This is what I've been called to do.
Millions of people have been born since 1945 specifically to have NDEs. Many more have had spiritually transformative experiences (STEs). That creates an army, if you'll excuse the term, of spiritually oriented people on this Big Blue Marble upon which we live. This group of people, of all ages and creeds, are intended to live from their hearts and inspire others to do the same - bringing humanity into its spiritual adulthood.
All of this feels more important as time goes by. Spiritually speaking, humanity is one second away from the adulthood of its twenty-first birthday. Yet, taken in our entirety, we're still mired in material concerns. Like teenagers we're still doing things for no other reason than we can, without reverence for the Earth or each other. As we've seen from recent storms, wildfires, and political turmoil, this leads to calamity.
So now, with NDEs, STEs, the many three letter variations, and people who are simply interested, it's time to get to work.
Tom Sawyer with Richard as 'Loopy' outside of Tom's house, 1995?
Here's Tom and I on top of the Zugspitze, the tallest mountain in Germany. You're not supposed to let go of the guardrails there. Tom told me to turn away and walked over to the pole on the right for awhile. After a bit he said, "Ok," and walked off to the left. I went to the pole, knelt down, and spontaneously began crying. When I opened my eyes Tom had gone back to the lodge. I joined him there where he asked, "Did you get anything?" I told him of my crying. He simply smiled.
Richard has been authoring a weekly meditation since 2008. See the link below:
